Hailing from Belfast, Ireland, even as an amateur Carl found success, winning 114 bouts and losing only 11 times. After turning pro in 2009, people quickly took notice of his high level boxing skill and knowledge, being named Ireland's Prospect of the Year and winning his first professional title, the BBBofC Celtic super-bantamweight title, in 2010.
A willingness to fight any challenger has been a defining characteristic of Frampton's storied career. In 2014 he won his first world championship and in early 2016 unified the 122-pound division. Later that year he took on then undefeated, Leo Santa Cruz, in what became a Fight of the Year candidate at 126 pound. With the win The Jackal became the first boxer from Northern Ireland and only the second boxer from Ireland to hold world titles in two different weight classes.
Carl is a great ambassador for the sport and wants to continue to put his area of Northern Ireland on the map by taking on bigger and better opponents every time out.
“I WANT TO BE A LEGEND, HONESTLY, THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO BE, A LEGEND IN IRISH SPORT. I WANT TO KEEP BEATING BIG NAMES. I WANT TO GET BIG FIGHTS, BRING THEM BACK TO BELFAST AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, AND KEEP WINNING.”
